About the event

Rob Cesternino, the two-time Survivor player referred to by Jeff Probst as “the smartest player never to win Survivor,” is the creator and host of Rob Has a Podcast. Since 2010, Rob has covered reality TV shows such as Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, and more. The show has won five People’s Choice Podcast Awards. Rob is a proud husband, father of two, and friend to thousands in the RHAP community.

About The Book

The ultimate (unofficial) Survivor book for fans from the contestant-turned-host of Rob Has a Podcast.

Rob Cesternino has probably talked more Survivor than any other person on the planet. After playing in Survivor: The Amazon and All-Stars, Rob built a community amongst Survivor’s online fans with Rob Has a Podcast. Now, this foremost scholar of the show takes readers from the beaches of Borneo on the first season all the way to the landmark fiftieth season. This cleverly illustrated ode to the show includes “The Heroes and Villains Hall of Fame,” the greatest “Watercooler Watershed Moments” in the show’s history, and Rob’s “Ultimate Survivor Playbook” (no refunds) to winning that million-dollar prize.

Whether you’re a superfan or a first timer, The Tribe and I Have Spoken is a must-read celebration for anyone who counts themselves as part of this passionate tribe of fans from around the world.

In conversation with Stephen Fishbach

Stephen Fishbach is a bestselling novelist and Pushcart Prize-winning short story writer. His novel Escape! was an instant national bestseller and received praise in the Atlantic, Slate, Los Angeles Review of Books, People, and many others. The New Yorker’s Emily Nussbaum called it “a gorgeously written, compassionate, but ultimately devastating portrait of the lives of the human beings working inside (and often, crushed by) the entertainment machine.” It was also featured on Entertainment Weekly’s Must List.

Through Stephen’s corporate work, he has tried to use media superpowers for positive social change. At MTV and Logo TV, he worked on campaigns that used those channels’ broad reach to raise awareness about discrimination, marriage equality, and school violence. He was a writer for MTV’s Peabody Award-winning “Half of Us” campaign, which focused on young people’s mental health. He also has worked as a speechwriter, and once wrote nine speeches about world peace that Stevie Wonder delivered during a concert at the United Nations.

Stephen is host of the literary podcast Paraphrase and co-host of The Survivor Know-It-Alls with Rob Cesternino. In 2008, he was runner-up on the TV show Survivor, and in 2015, he was voted by fans to return for an all star season of the show. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and two children.
