Rock for Schools II
For the second year, three bands with teachers (The Pool Boys, The Aftermath, and The Randos) will rock Jammin' Java to benefit Educate Fairfax, a nonprofit that works with Fairfax County Public Schools to provide school supplies, scholarships, and grants for education innovations.
The Pool Boys are a rock cover band from Herndon, Va., specializing in an eclectic mix of high-energy rock tunes (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Green Day, Rage Against the Machine), hip-hop party tunes (Eminem, Nelly, Dr. Dre, Run-DMC), and classic rock (Aerosmith, Tom Petty, the Doobie Brothers, Van Halen). Guitarist/vocalist Dan Blanchet is also the chair of the social studies department at Madison High School in Vienna.
The Aftermath is a party pop rock band playing your favorites from the 80's to today from bands like Jimmy Eat World, Wheatus, No Doubt, Lit, Bon Jovi, and the Killers. Lead singer Molly Jepsen is a math teacher at Madison High School in Vienna.
The Randos are a band from Vienna and Arlington featuring music from the glory days of MTV (The Cure, R.E.M., INXS, Men at Work) with a few surprises from before (CCR, Fleetwood Mac) and after (Neon Trees, Chris Stapleton) the days in which Music Television had music. Lead singer Kristy Woldow is a music teacher in Arlington; multi-instrumentalist Beau Dure is a substitute teacher in FCPS.
