About the event

NO SECOND TROY is a Washington, DC–area band that once commanded national attention and has now returned to the stage with the same indie-rock energy and a brand-new perspective. Back in the day, their songs showed up in movie trailers, on ESPN, on MTV, on SiriusXM, and possibly in the background of your vague memories from 2009. They shared stages with bands much cooler and better rested than them, played festivals with too many acronyms (SXSW, NXNE, etc.), and even received praise from places like SPIN and the CMJ charts—printed publications, for those born after 1995.

Then life happened.

Careers. Families. Back pain. A suspicious number of group texts about scheduling conflicts. After more than a decade of radio silence, NO SECOND TROY has re-emerged as a slightly wiser and significantly more self-aware version of itself. Think indie rock anthems with pop hooks, powered by guitars, piano, organ, and the unshakable feeling that someone probably needs to stretch before loading gear.

Their long-awaited new album is definitely coming soon—by which they mean it exists, it’s good, and it keeps getting delayed for extremely rock-and-roll reasons like jobs, kids, and existential exhaustion. Musically, they still live in that sweet spot between indie and pop, blending melodic hooks with introspective lyrics, only now the introspection includes mortgage payments and nostalgia for the era when “uploading a song” didn’t feel like a technical obstacle course.

The name No Second Troy, borrowed from a Yeats poem about unrequited love, feels more appropriate than ever. There may not be a second Troy—but there is a second act. And while the band may not be chasing glory the way they once did, they’re still chasing great songs, loud choruses, and the thrill of proving that it’s never too late to make something that matters… or at least something that sounds really good turned up in the car.

Welcome back. They’re just as earnest as ever—only now with better stories and slightly worse knees.

GXB's scorching, hook-laden Southern Rock and Roll is filled with blues and heartfelt soul. Built around tight, high-energy live shows and Guy Bouchie's "Instant Classic" songwriting, the band is rounded out by veteran DC musician Ben Tufts and other hard hitting local talent. Signed to Root Nine Records, the band has continuously honed their craft opening for artists like Willie Nile, Dave Alvin, the Virginia Coalition and many others.
