Lovesick Loner Car was formed in 2023 by Northern Virginia native Chris Goodin. What began as a solo songwriting project—sparked by the sudden loss of lifelong friends, family members, and former bandmates—led to the creation of deeply emotional tracks like Abandoned Buildings and The Past Is a Ghost. These early songs marked the beginning of a new chapter for Goodin, evolving into studio sessions with a rotating cast of drummers including John Love, Rob Rhods, and Kyle George, and eventually shaping the distinctive sound that would define Lovesick Loner Car.
Goodin soon recruited local bassist Eric Stevens of Vacuum Scam and reunited with longtime friend and former bandmate Josh Peterson from Cobbler. Throughout 2023, the band played live shows and released their debut EP, Love & Loss, along with singles including One Step and Abandoned Buildings, gaining traction on Spotify and steadily building a growing fan base.
In 2024, the band expanded its lineup with the addition of drummer Daniel Kim and lead guitarist Jordan Davidson, former lead singer of The Jean Marie. In 2026, Lovesick Loner Car added a second lead guitarist and backing vocalist, Gio Hernandez, further expanding the band’s live sound and vocal depth.
That same year, the band released its second EP, Solve 4 Y, continuing to push its sound forward while building on the emotional songwriting that has become central to Lovesick Loner Car. The EP features songs including ICU, Back To You, I Don’t Wanna Know, Love Is A Drug, Surrender, Rylee Jean, Heart Bleed, and The Old Bus Stop.
The band’s sound has matured into a blend of indie rock, alternative rock, and shoegaze, featuring Kate Bush–inspired synth leads, warm keys reminiscent of Death Cab for Cutie, and the atmospheric depth of Lord Huron. Tying it all together is Goodin’s vivid, emotionally honest songwriting—songs centered on love, loss, memory, relationships, and the complicated process of moving forward.
