Car-o-ween is taking over Pearl Street Warehouse for a Halloween night spotlighting all-female and nonbinary-fronted bands and artists from the local music scene. Costumes are highly encouraged, with a costume contest happening throughout the night.

This marks the first-ever live show hosted by local DC music blogger @carosplaylists, bringing the platform’s mission of championing emerging artists and creating a welcoming music community to the stage. A portion of ticket sales will be going to Girl's Rock DC!

The lineup spans four women in their late 20s and early 30s alongside a keyboardist who’s been in the game a bit longer. That mix of perspectives fuels an unusually collaborative writing process where every member shapes the music, resulting in songs that range from loving with absolute abandon to fiercely backing up a friend in a bad spot.

For Historically Close Friends, the music is an extension of their actual friendship, whether they’re on a band camping trip or dissecting their favorite covers, the group is as tight-knit as their musical sound.

Baltimore-based artist Enslow writes the kind of indie pop that feels equally at home on a festival stage or blasting from a car with the windows down. Anchored by sharp songwriting, soaring vocals, and a sound that blends shimmering pop, indie rock, electronic textures, and the warmth of '70s songwriting, her music balances polished production with emotional honesty.

Backed by a powerhouse band, Enslow has become one of the Mid-Atlantic's most compelling live acts, earning Best Band in Baltimore from Baltimore Magazine and recognition as a Top Shelf Artist in NPR's 2026 Tiny Desk Contest. Her music has also been featured by NPR World Cafe and remains in regular rotation on 89.7 WTMD. Whether on record or on stage, Enslow delivers hook-driven songs with the energy of a full-band rock show and the intimacy of a songwriter who never loses sight of the story.

Bluebelt is a 6 piece indie alternative band, blending wide ranging influences into a sound that feels fresh, yet familiar. Their debut single, "Sonar," was released on streaming platforms on Halloween 2025 and has amassed nearly 10,000 plays on Spotify. The band seeks inspiration from groups like Peach Pit, Geese, Blondshell, Big Thief, and Flipturn. They’re known for playing high energy sets to crowds of hundreds at outdoor festivals, intimate venues, and house shows. Bluebelt formed in early 2025 through high school and college friendships Eric Becker (keys), Ethan Frantz (guitar), and Josh Mehr (drums), plus the grapevine of the DC music scene, Holly Teeters (vocals), Brett Mundy (guitar), and West Donnelly (bass). They started jamming together in Josh’s sunroom-turned-bedroom, where they found immediate creative chemistry with an audience forming quickly thereafter.

nina1am (they/them) is a queer Vietnamese-American singer-songwriter from the DMV. Inspired by the constant ebb and flow of nature and the human condition, nina1am focuses on creating lush soundscapes for melodies and stories to take root. Layering diverse sonic influences and vocal chops, nina1am writes songs illustrating the complex relationship between social identity, self reflection, and desire.
